I have seen the same things as you have. Very disappointing. Is Muffet McGraw wrong though with what she said? During the pre-season, she had a lot of positive and nice things to say about Q and this Syracuse team-- even picked them as her dark horse this season if I'm correct. I certainly haven't been convinced of this team ever since that opening game against Stony Brook. They have looked so messy and have been lucky quite a few times this year to escape with a win.
Picked to finish 3rd in the conference pre-season, bring in the #4 rated recruiting class and highest ranking recruit in Syracuse Women's Basketball history, Tiana is back, we get Kiara Lewis to stay instead of transferring elsewhere and we have only been beating teams by like 10 points? No wonder we have only been going up like 1 or 2 spots each week when other teams in the top 10 are beating teams by like 20, 30, 40, 50 points.
Yet, I don't feel like Cardoso gets the minutes she deserves. Way too many turnovers with Tiana and Kiara for this program to do anything like win ACC/NCAA Tourney. Lets not even begin to talk about Finklea and Djaldi-Tabdi. How is it they have gotten WORSE each year, rather than improve? I just don't get it. Can we get Tammi Reiss back please?
Meh, it was how gleefully she said it that rubbed me the wrong way. Tammy has been gone 2 years now, Delisha Milton-Jones took her place and only stayed for a year. John Marcum took her place after coaching at 5 different colleges and now there are no women coaches on the team. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I do agree, they have not looked all that great this year. 2020 just keeps sucking any joy out of life.Is Muffet McGraw wrong though with what she said? Muffet is easy to dislike but I think a lot of her observations are spot on.Meh, it was how gleefully she said it that rubbed me the wrong way. I don't disagree with any of this although I'll add that Tiana is still injured from a couple of games ago, something with her foot. That would explain her performance in last nights game. McGraw is a good analyst but I reserve my right to not like herMuffet is easy to dislike but I think a lot of her observations are spot on.
We had 5 assists all game. So many possessions ended with a long 3 taken a couple of seconds after the ball crosses half court. No one has time to get position down low to try and get a rebound.
Almost everyone looks to shoot at the first possible opportunity. I think Priscilla shot the ball immediately everything she touched it in the first half. Kiki is a black hole. Tiana didn’t play much and was a shadow of her normal self (1 assist in 16 minutes; could not beat anyone down the court). It wouldn’t be so bad if we were a good outside shooting team (we must certainly are not).
This team desperately needs a PG who can run a half court offense and is competent to make entry passes to the post. Cardoso is already quite good at getting position and presenting an easy target and will finish or draw a foul consistently. Our other bigs are experienced and can finish too, if they are allowed to touch the ball.
The biggest issue is our defense. Priscilla and Emily just let their players drive by them for layups all game long. I like Q but don’t understand why when this keeps happening, you don’t take your player that is causing issues and yell at them, and have them sit on the bench and get ready to do better when they get in again.
We also really need fast, athletic, physical guards for our press to be effective. Hyman was our only one and she is not going to play this year. Some of the others have some athletic ability but need to be way more assertive. Maybe Fisher can help here. She and Blackstone (who appears to be a shooter) have some promise for the future.
Gotta get Williams to do more than just stand around on the perimeter and launch bad 3s. She is a really good athlete being wasted right now.
Yes, hopefully Tiana will be 100% soon. She did not look right at all.I don't disagree with any of this although I'll add that Tiana is still injured from a couple of games ago, something with her foot.
