Link is to a Rivvals site, so you may have to alter the URL. But here's the Syracuse-related portion:

"Scheduling is a two-way street though and UCF has seemingly struggled to close deals. According to play-by-play voice Marc Daniels on his radio show The Beat of Sports, Syracuse verbally agreed to a series but stalled signing the contract, only to ink a deal with USF instead. The Orange will visit Tampa next season and welcome the Bulls to upstate New York in 2016."

These are the type of series we want to avoid. Nothing good comes from playing AAC opponents. I don't mind USF or Temple as the exceptions though because they are rebuilding and are in recruiting areas.
Just say no to UCF or East Carolina type teams.

Coastal is an FCS team. Charlotte is FBS.
I went to a Charlotte game last year. That is a team we could get a 2 for 1
Easily and SU fans in NC and Charlotte would have a good turnout.
Teams we could probably get a 2 for 1 with are Charlotte, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, non-top tier MAC
Teams.

I wouldn't touch any Georgia teams, regardless of conference standing, @ this point. Could be a team full of Cam Lynch's. State and Southern both play big teams tough. State was up 14-0 in the second half @ UW before falling apart down the stretch. Southern was within 10 of Bama in the 3rd qtr in 2011.

I wouldn't avoid playing ucf but usf makes more sense since we have some history with them from bigeast days

Can you imagine if we played East Carolina in the Dome this year? They'd have 700 yards easily. And I'm outspoken in my opposition to ever playing in Greenville, NC ever again. I know I won't be going. Yuck.

UCF stays off the menu until at least George retires. Then we'll see what happens with them. If they tank like USF has currently, then that might not be a bad trip. Let the wife/kids hit Disney, and I'll hit that new on campus stadium.

Just as I doubt Wyoming would ever play us again without SU going out to Laramie first. Syracuse should never play East Carolina again without them repaying us the home game they never gave us. Terry Holland ECU AD bought out of a game we were owed because we refused to extend our series with them. Syracuse in the early 1990s really helped East Carolina out with home games they needed and they didn't play us at the Dome for all the games we has been owed. Thus no more ECU games.

That ECU buyout was ridiculously cheap too...like $50k to buyout the last game. The contract was signed in the mid/late 80s. We actually gave ECU a chance to have home games. Cuse only demanded a 5 for 4 series. Other Big Boy schools didn't offer that. Ofcourse, we screwed over Wyoming a few years later...or it looked like we did at the time...but fate was kind to the Cowboys and they landed a H/H versus a desperate UT-Austin.

BTW, we should definitely schedule UCF in the future...great for recruiting and FL Cuse fans.

I kinda liked going to ECU since we crushed them. But I only remember that game from the perspective of a 15 year old.

We need to put together 10 win seasons. That means going 5-3in the ACC, 4-0 OOC, and winning the bowl game.

A stretch of 3 10 win seasons in 5-6 years, 1-2 9 win seasons and 1-2 win seasons would do wonders for us (see Virginia Tech). After that, we can start scheduling big teams again.

We need to schedule to win and invest in assistant coaches.

I would love to get 2-1 deals with Tulane, 2-1 (if possible) with USF, 2-1 with F_U, 2-1 against MAC teams, and regular games against Temple and northeastern FCS teams.
