SU Athletic Director Candidates

A lot of the discussion about candidates for the new Athletic Director got subsumed into the discussion thread about potential SU Coaching Candidates. So maybe we should just start a thread about the potential new AD candidates here. Several folks (some insiders I believe) recently indicated that they believed Heather Lyke would end up being the choice. Which horrified many of us on this board. Others had been insisting for the past few weeks that it wouldn’t be her. What do people think? Will SU really make a disastrous AD hire that would be mocked across the athletics world, or is this erroneous info? I really believed the leading candidates would be Tom Theodorakis at Army or Wildhack’s protege Andrew Goodrich at Akron.

I’m not as high on him as others. (Don’t know him, strictly resume based)… same reason I don’t want a coach who hasn’t navigated modern college sports.

A lot of experience around college sports but hasn’t been in the trenches during the modern era. If I were hand picking someone, it’d be a #2 at a prominent school that’s embraced and excelled in the new era.

The two of them with Torrey Ball is a really nice combo. Torrey I think is going to have a distinguished athletics career and I hope he continues to rise at Cuse.

Yeah Lyke would be a very poor choice. The army ad using us to up his contract wasn’t expected.

Lykes hasn’t been here very long. It’s not as if she has shadowed JW since he started. The logic that she can keep the lights on and moving is definitely not that compelling. If she had been here for a few coaching hires, maybe, but she hasn’t
