Still list Conley and Brumbaugh -- no sign of Morrison

We are the anti-Rutgers. Instead of telling recruits the coaching staff will remain intact (knowing full well it won't) and then letting it out that coaches are leaving the day after loi day, we let it be rumored the month before that coaches will be leaving then retain them after loi day.

Disclaimer - j/k

That probably won't change until, the last coach is officially announced along with Morrison. Marrone also did say Conley and Brumbaugh were still on the staff and being paid but would not be on field coaches. Not sure what that means and I would expect them to go elsewhere. BTW, I haven't really dug into the Morrison hire, but what was the point in hiring him again?

secure eastern michigan?

Can we assume HCDM target is coaching today or involved in today's game in some capacity?

I wouldn't make that assumption.

This all about Scott Shafer getting his soldiers in place. First Doust, now Morrison. I I'm impressed with Doust so far, so I'm looking forward to seeing what Morrison can accomplish. I can understand Brumbagh's departure, basically a consolidation move on the DL. And was a southern boy like Jimmy ever really happy here? On the other hand, there must have been something seriously wrong between an orangeblood like Conley and, Shafer and/or Marone. I heard tell Conley was sniffing around for other offers prior to the demotion or firing, whichever the case may be.

On another note I found it funny that Mookie is still on the bball roster while football players disappear within minutes of their departure. Wonder what it means?

I'm about 99.99% sure that wasn't happening.

Just the opposite. Marrone sat on this news to help those guys get other jobs.

Not sure what that means and I would expect them to go elsewhere.
I would guess he did that so they would have jobs and get paid while they were finding other employment.

Only a rumor, but I think it might have some credence in light of the demotion to the S&C position/'offer'.

You might be hearing confused info. Conley did not get let go, demoted or anything because he was snooping around for other jobs. After he was informed of what his status would be on the team, then I am sure he started looking elsewhere.

Correct

The story floating around the board a few weeks ago was that he was demoted and accepted. Then after accepting he went out looking for a role somewhere else a Marrone found out and rescinded the offer. I have no idea if true or not.

That could be true but It sounded like the OP was saying he got demoted, fired, etc because he was looking.

I said it wasn't true at the time.

That's also the word on the street I heard, but it's only here say, because there are so few details leading up to Wednesday's announcement. As far as my post, I meant to say "after", not "prior", regarding the re-assignment. No disrespect to either Conley or Brumbaugh was intended. None the less, I'm sure the dismissals were performance based. I know Marrone is trying to do the right thing by keeping both on payroll and holding off on announcing the dismissals publicly. That said, I'm not sure it was handled correctly in in the first place. I can see if we were waiting for the post season to conclude before announcing new coaches, but to keep it on the QT this long is just strange, apart from giving Conley and Brumbaugh the opportunity to find new jobs. I don't know how it was handled or what effect it had on recruiting, but I'm sure recruits were made aware of the situation at the time of their dismissals. That's what leads me to believe there's something more involved in the matter.
