The idea of facing Bowl teams used to mean something before there were 35 bowls. The new translation is that Syracuse faces 6 winning teams. However, it would be more accurate to include PSU as a winning team since they were not bowl eligible. In reality, we face 7 teams with winning records from last season, 8 if we count Wagner's winning season, too (they are 1AA or FCS so some may not want to count them on the same level as BCS).

In general, that means that we face six teams in the Top 70 - not exactly daunting, especially since it would also mean that we face six teams in the Bottom 45 or 50.
