I’m just genuinely confused at this one so please enlighten me. In years past there has always been a beat reporter for SU Football at the Post Standard. Whether it to be Stephen, Nate or Emily. Like em or not, any time there was a game, there would be hundreds of tweets throughout the game about warm ups, maybe some clips from warm ups, who is practicing with the 1s during warm ups, who is in sweats, different alignments and subs throughout the game, etc.

Which brings me to the current beat reporter for our team. The below is literally the only 4 tweets from the game yesterday. Is this normal for a beat reporter? Perhaps I have different expectations; but I thought tweeting updates to enlighten us fans is part of the gig. Not 4 odd tweets.

Or is he not the beat reporter and someone else is?

Did Javon even ask Fran a question in the post game? I know it was a short presser but I don’t recall hearing his voice. Maybe he didn’t travel?

It seems that Javon didn’t make the trip. His story posted Saturday afternoon at 3:42 had a Syracuse dateline.
Interesting that Javon didn't travel but apparently Chris Carlson did. (The dateline on his story says Atlanta.) Looks like Javon might not be doing so well with the company. (Unless he was ill or injured.) I guess it started in preseason when he disagreed with Fran picking Steve over Rickie. We now know how that turned out.

I think it comes down to economics. Since the season is basically shot and no compelling story lines, it makes no sense to send two writers.

I’m ashamed that I ever said anything remotely derogatory about Emily’s coverage. It is night and day from the new guy.
Emily was very underrated and wish that her time covering the team was longer than it was. She was a professional and there is a reason she is covering the NFL now. Did she do bathroom selfies? Yes, she did. What's wrong with reporters showing a bit of personality? I thought her reporting, questions, and general analysis was pretty spot on throughout. I also remember when she did an amazing profile on Coach Brown when he first joined. It always felt she did a good job reporting about the program vs just reporting on the program. I think she did a better job building relationships with players and coaches than most covering the program, but remained objective. Even when Dino was here which was not easy to do with his approach with media.

His podcast is good and the only one worth listening to in all of SU sports. IMHO, of course.

Brent gets way too much hate here.
Not to be adversarial but in my over 50 years of listening to SU sports coverage, he is the worst. And it isn’t close imo.

Brian Higgins is way better and listenable.
I was curious and went back and listened to a good chunk of Higgins post game yesterday. He really can’t carry an hour by himself. I assume he does interviews and stuff with other people? Will try to find that.
