SU Football Road Trip (Hotel Advice) This Fall

We are planning a SU Football Game Road Trip for this Fall (regardless of fan attendence limit at the Carrier Dome)

at Clemson on October 24th, and or at Wake Forest on November 7th. We would like to be at same hotels as Syracuse fans or maybe even the team if possible. More than likely gonna be at Clemson on Oct 24th.

In a normal year, the hotels at Clemson are already booked up and you’ll have to take what you can get at this point.

In a covid year, who knows.

At Wake, you won’t have a problem getting a room even much later than this.

As far as the team hotel goes, the only time I’ve ever known where they were staying was the bowl game.

Hook up with Texan Marks crew. Fun group and Mark does a great job organizing everything.

I know in years past, the team has stayed in Greenville. Clemson is a tiny town with small hotels. I don’t think any of them can host the SU football traveling contingent.

If you're looking to stay in Clemson, AirBnB. If you don't mind driving, stay in Greenville. I was planning to do the latter but my friend is having a baby soon and I don't want to be a fourth wheel.

Stay in Greenville. Amazing place. Get an Airbnb. I did it two years ago and it worked out perfect. Traffic was a little hectic to the game but that was it. Go to halls for one of the best steakhouse experiences everrrrr. Greenville is amazing. Nothing to do in Clemson. Sheraton in Greenville is on main strip and can walk to everything

Had pretty good seats too! Absolutely amazing place to see a game

yes and we took the back roads from Greenville on Waze. Highways were a nightmare

that’s what we did too. It wasn’t crazy and certainly worth it Bc the Clemson fans are awesome and want you to party with them all day

Depends what direction you are coming from. Motels in and around Clemson are brutally expensive. I've stayed about an hour out to save $$$

Wake is much easier. I've had good luck finding motels close by for a reasonable price. If you fly in CLT or RDU are great options. I've actually stayed by both airports and drove in for the game.

For Clemson always go through SU

For Wake Forest you will do better either joining in my group purchase or getting Tix on the secondary market.

Wake is super easy to park, to tailgate and to improve your seating inside the stadium

If flying in for the Wake game I can highly recommend Greensboro airport. It’s small but lots of good connections, easy parking and good location. Really cuts down on your drive time to Winston Salem as opposed to RDU or Charlotte.

I'd much rather fly nonstop to CLT or RDU. If you can get a nonstop (direct) into Greensboro it is definitely worth a look.

Every time you make a connection you increase the odds your travel will get fouled up. I'm not convinced the airline schedules will be super robust by the Fall. I see the airlines taking several years to recover back to pre-Covid levels.

Yeah I’m flying in two weeks for a work trip to Minneapolis. Use to be direct flight from Syracuse. Now I’m stuck with layovers. Don’t see it coming back anytime soon. The flights are 1/8 booked at this point.

Edit: not direct flights, usually a 1 - 2 hour layover in Wash, Philly, Charlotte or NJ/NY. United, American, Delta.

For grins just checked Expedia for October and got ROC-IAD-GSO for $224 round trip with workable Friday-Sunday times on United. However, they now charge $35 for carry on.
