SU football valued at $130 million...

Well hopefully that will be a bargain after a couple years with Dino. Although I'm guessing we won't be up for sale anytime soon. :)

That is with a huge decrease in attendance this year. If Syracuse averages a legit 40k per game I am sure we shoot up that list to the high 40's. We have the ability to move revenues around by having the Dome management outside of the SUAD thus we can charge whatever rent we want for games at the Dome.

Babers could really rise the program up.

Nice to value a "business" that does not pay employees.

it's such a dumb article. Are any of these programs going independent to maximize that value in the eyes of networks? Can schools sell their programs to companies? Issue bonds specific to sports programs?

Schools IMO are worth as much as the endowment and the demands of students to pay 50k to attend. If either of those things go away, so does the value of the school.

I think the way the NCAA operates is a lot dumber than the article.

I equate it to me valuing my wife for prostitution. A ridiculous valuation based on a ridiculous premise.
I disagree in that I think the way the NCAA operates is far from ideal. Of course, I don't think either of us should value our wives that way. But I have no problem with a hypothetical article on the value of college programs if they operated closer to (although not exactly like) other big time sports programs.

Perhaps most relevant from that article. The private schools:

4 - Notre Dame
24 - Southern Cal
31 - Stanford
39 - Miami
45 - Northwestern
48 - SYRACUSE
52 - TCU
56 - BYU
60 - Baylor
62 - BC
68 - Vanderbilt
71 - Duke
72 - Wake Forest
80 - SMU
87 - Rice
NR - Tulsa
NR - Tulane

--------------
And some others of note
30 - Clemson

61 - Nutmeg State
63 - Pitt
64 - WVU
65 - Louisville
67 - Buttgers
75 - Cincy

This makes us look a lot better - I'm surprised we are ranked ahead of Pitt and WVU, and to some extent, TCU and BYU. Not sure if we can pass anyone besides Northwestern.
