SU has 12th toughest strength of schedule in the nation

Hard nosed !!!!

Or hard-headed. This program still needs wins and bowl appearances as it continues to climb out of the abyss. I'm not so sure playing the 12th best SOS is in the program's best interest at this time.

I don't care what the numbers say Florida State has a harder schedule than Syracuse.
Syracuse OOC games
Villanova
@Central Michigan
Maryland
Notre Dame-Neutral site

Florida State OOC games
Oklahoma State-Neutral site
The Citadel
Notre Dame
Florida

We play Pitt and Duke from the Coastal they play Miami and Virginia. I guess Virginia's 2-10 record from 2013 drags FSU's SOS down.

it helps when you dont have to play the #1 team in the country because you are the #1 team in the country.

florida is just a name at this point.

Eh, we have no control over our conference schedule, we have to play FSU and Clemson, so there' nothing to complain about there.

Our OOC is Maryland, ND, Villanova and Central Michigan. That's not exactly a murderer's row.

Fair point and that is probably the reason our schedule is tougher. I am not saying we are playing a weak schedule either. I like our non-conference games and our conference schedule is going to be tough playing in the Atlantic division.

If we go 7-5 this year with this schedule, count me as happy. As long as we don't lose to NC State or UMD.

No, but we do have control over the OOC, and that is the larger point. We have LSU next year, Central Mich, and 2 TBA. We don't need to schedule SEC powerhouses just yet.

I wish we were in the other division. Freakin Duke win it last year.

We could win that division, and beat the Hokies again.

I couldn't care less about playing Pitt or BC, and I couldn't care less about going to Clemson and losing but getting to see a lot of Tiger fans and some stupid rock.

I want Hokies heads on a platter, and I want a division title(minimum).

Don't know why I thought this was appropriate.

It's not.

No matter how bad it may go it only counts as one loss. The upside of actually winning is enormous.

I also think matchups like that on your future schedules can help you recruit.

There's upside to 4 cupcakes of course but I've never liked that concept. And it's just not how SU does business so no sense getting too worked up over it. 3 of 4 OOC this year should be wins. We'll see what TBA for 2015 brings but I'd guess 3 wins won't be unrealistic when that shakes out.

Again, eh. It's one game. SU's been a 7-8 win team recently, scheduling one very strong OOC opponent annually seems reasonable. This isn't like 1998 when we were scheduling Tennessee, Michigan and NC State all in the same season (which was insanity).
