SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the second year, the Syracuse University athletic department and the Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association (SARA) will host the Evening at Ten Eyck on Saturday. The 2014 Hall of Fame class will be honored on Saturday night, as well, at the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse.
The night will begin with a recreational row at 4:30 p.m., which all alumni are invited to attend. A social hour will begin at 5:00 p.m., featuring light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Preliminary races will start at 6 p.m., followed by final races at 7:30 p.m. The event will come to a close at 8:30 p.m. with dinner and the Hall of Fame recognition.
This year's Hall of Fame class includes Steve Gladstone (1964), Clifford "Tip" Goes (1914), Drew Harrison (1968), Dr. Marty Hilfinger (1914), Tom Kerr (1939), Mark Lyvers (1977), Howard Robbins (1914), and the 1913 IRA champion varsity eight.
The SU women's rowing team will honor Mark Lyvers, the first coach in program history. Several members of that first crew in 1978 are expected to return, including current SARA president Lynne Pascale.
