Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse brought 72 players to Mount Pleasant, Mich., for its first road game of the 2014 season. That's the same number that the Orange will be allowed to bring to all Atlantic Coast Conference games away from the Carrier Dome this year.

The most notable absences include redshirt junior wide receiver Quinta Funderburk, freshman linebacker Parris Bennett, redshirt sophomore guard Seamus Shanley, freshman linebacker Colton Moskal, redshirt sophomore tight end Josh Parris (knee injury) and redshirt freshman wide receiver Sean Avant (upper-body injury). Funderburk and Bennett are the only two players to play offensive or defensive snaps in SU's season opener against Villanova and not make the trip.
 
Two of the more interesting players to make the cut are freshman safety Rodney Williams and freshman center Donnie Foster. With a number of redshirt candidates not traveling, including Denzel Ward, Aaron Roberts, Naesean Howard, Colton Moskal, Kayton Samuels and Jalen Harvey, Williams is here in Mount Pleasant. He's practiced in the Okie formation as well as on the kick block unit during open portions of practice during preseason camp.
