Now more than ever, the Rare Disease Community needs our support and help! However, given the current climate of uncertainty, the status of our annual Lift For Life this summer is up in the air. That will not deter us from finding a way to support the Rare Disease Community we care so much about. We are working on alternatives for this summer that will allow us to continue to fulfill our mission and inspire the Rare Disease Community with hope through the power of sport. People affected by rare diseases are one of the most vulnerable populations at risk because of COVID-19. Being at greater risk of medical complications if they are infected with the virus makes for a scary situation. Beyond that, patients are dealing with modified care plans, delayed medications and treatments, and struggling with decisions of whether to visit the doctor and risk exposure. That is not something we wish to have anyone deal with alone. As Syracuse Chapter Leaders, we are using our voice and platform to help us all better understand the risks for rare disease patients today.
