Why would any underclass women still on this roster want to hit the Portal? Syracuse will loose: starters: Verajao, Woolley, Camp, Wood, and one of the forwards from the bench, Saniaa Wilson This current freshman class: Keira Scott, Olivia Schmitt, Shy Hawkins, and Madeline Potts, have all played this year and I would be surprised if at least two out of that group are not starters next year. Journey Thompson came to Syracuse out of the Portal from Arizona State, where she averaged less than 6 points per game and less that 6 rebounds per game as a starter. She will be our tallest returning player next year at 6-3, and here's hoping that we recruit over her and get a much more productive starter from the Portal. The star of our transfer portal acquisitions this year, was Velez, who was a 4 star player and ranked in the top 40, coming out of HS, and came to us from LSU, and her play this year hasn't met expectations based on her pedigree. As far as the rotation and substitution pattern goes, you are correct, it has been very inconsistent and hard to figure out from game to game. I trust Coach Jack's judgement, as she is in practice with these young ladies every day. I think she is just trying to win and going with the best players that she thinks can bring home that W!! If she can keep the current group of eligible players together and hits that portal hard for some talented post players, next year's team should be more competitive. The transfer portal will be the key, if we don't get at least two really good Bigs, next year will be tough as well. What kind of Bigs do we need: Did you see Lattimore form UVA play today? She was in the Portal last year after not playing much at Miami!
