Lake Clifton's man-to-man defense suffocated the Lions, whose usual run-and-gun offense ground to a halt. Lancers coach Herman Harried frequently mixed the positioning of his man-to-man defense, not allowing the Lions (22-5) to settle into a rhythm.

“We tried to not let them do what they wanted to do,” Harried said. “We mixed it up because we didn't want them to get comfortable with any one defense we were running.”

But losing in the Big East hurts, just as losing Syracuse is bound to hurt the whole conference. "The interesting thing is how many people they'll bring to Tobacco Road," Pitino said, referring to ACC country. "There's not many Syracuse alums on Tobacco Road."
==============================================================================

I was under the impression SU has a strong base of fans in the Tobacco Road region.

Pitino doesn't know didly about Syracuse's alumni precense on tobacco road. Quick draw McGraw will continually take little shots over the next 12 months in an effort to bolster Louisville's position in college basketball. Or at least until Louisville ends up in a more stable conference (read: Big XII).
