"We saw that third-down play coming the whole way," insisted Lawrence, who was joined by Kenny Coughlin, Alvin Cornelius and Niheem Chavis with solid defensive play. "All Magnet does is run iso, iso, iso, so when you see that wing back (go out), you know the reverse is coming.

But that was fine with the Pirates, who rode touchdowns by Augustus Edwards (78 yards), Cornelius (51 yards) and Darnt (16 yards) on their only three snaps to take a commanding 42-7 lead with just under 10 minutes to play in the contest. "Our defense was doing a great job and it was time for us to capitalize by getting in the end zone," said Cornelius, who not only threw a touchdown pass to Murphy, but led the Pirates in receiving (2 catches for 40 yards).

"We did a good job blocking in the second half." "The offensive line stayed on their blocks and (we're hitting) them with Augustus, Darnt and Cornelius," said Munson of their second-half attack, which included no pass plays. "Once we get rolling, we feed on it and fortunately we kept it going."

Alvin Cornelius thought the offensive surge began on defense with the goal-line stand that closed the first half, keeping the Pirates in the lead at halftime. Next Tottenville play from scrimmage, Cornelius lined up at quarterback in the shotgun and blew right up the middle for a 51-yard touchdown.

"That picked up our momentum," said Cornelius. "The intensity increased."
What came next was a flood that left the Bull-Dogs reeling, and the Pirates headed to the semifinals for the third straight season.

Defensive back Julian Whigham intercepted Darren Allen’s pass and returned it 35-yards for the touchdown to give Dwyer a 14-0 lead.

The need has grown. Former Jacksonville Jaguar Donovin Darius helped out with the giveaway and told the crowd that anyone can end up down on their luck and it's important to help pull them up.

"It doesn't matter, boy, girl, black, white, asian...we're all part of a family," said Darius.
