Surprised by the tenor of the board

New staff, new offense, new QB, rebuilt o-line...

And in the fourth quarter we had a chance to win the game against a big 10, bowl eligible team.

I was certainly disappointed with some things, like the conservative play calling, the refusal to utilize the things that worked, Allen's quick but bad decisions, allen's obsession with hitting players 5 yards out of bounds. ..

But I saw a lot of good... Defense, Kobena deep, the forced fumble, 3rd down defense, and the way we competed like a BCS team.

We've certainly taken a half step backwards but nothing concerned me so much to make me think we wouldn't start moving forward again with a couple games under our belt.

Exactly. I realistically figured we'd be 2-3 after the Clemson game. We'll be more than fine on defense, just need to get the offense going and play to our strengths.
