I was walking down Columbus Avenue a couple of years ago. I happened to walk past a couple at the precise second the baby blue clad woman had spotted someone wearing a Syracuse National Champions t shirt. She turned to the man and asked "When was the last tahm that Sayeracuse won the National Championship?" Being a civic minded New Yorker (ok perhaps a contradiction in terms) I ask: "Basketball or Lacrosse?" She gave me a look that could only be described ans incredulous and said "Basketball of coahs." After doing my civic duty (after all Syracuse IS New York's college team) and answering 2003, she informed me that "we" meaning UNC had won it in 2009. I thanked her for the information but reminded her that I hadn't asked. Then added: "If I recall correctly Syracuse kicked the snot (it was really another four letter s word, but this is a family environment) out of North Carolina in the Garden last year." The man, literally laughed out loud at my retort while the lady gave that "well I declare, how dauh you" look of surprise. As I passed them and went on my way I could still hear the man laughing. Thanks to Wes, Andy, KJ, Brandon, Arinze, Scoop, Ricky and Coach Boeheim for making that exchange possible
