To steer clear of all the block-charge controversy for a minute, I wanted to look at a more possible root cause or contributor to potential Cuse concerns lately, Thus, I went back to compare total shooting percentage and 3-pt shooting percentage for the game vs. opponent total shooting in ACC games to date. Here's what it looks like in reverse chronological order:

SU total % SU 3-pt % Opp. total % Opponent
39 22 48 Duke
32 17 43 BC
35 17 39 NCSt
43 43 36 Pitt
44 31 34 Clem
45 63 41 ND
57 75 43 Duke
36 21 34 Wake
45 46 39 Mia
51 27 39 Pitt
45 40 50 BC
35 21 39 UNC
47 41 37 VT
36 20 43 Mia

Summary:
1) Despite their 12-2 conf record, they are only 8-6 in total shooting percentage in the game. Other things (overall defense, rebounding, FTs, turnovers, shot blocks) also helping Cuse to many victories.
2) In last 3 games, total and 3-pt shooting percentages are dreadfully low and lower than their opponents total shooting each time. This needs to improve.
3) Not sure what it is about BC, but SU has shot worse than them both games.
4) I consider total shooting 45% or higher quite good for a game. They have done that 5 out of 14 games. Would like to see that a little higher.
5) Seven out of 14 games (half), they have shot less than 28% (and 6 of those less than 23%) from 3-pt land. Not good, and needs to improve.
6) SU needs to improve its overall shooting thru end of year to reduce loses and close games, so that a controversial call doesn't matter. If they can even improve to around 40-42% consistently, that would likely help a lot.

I'm sure other thoughts and ideas can be drawn from the data, and of course the data doesn't tell much of the story of a game, but is interesting to note.
