Roland Williams , who played for SU from 1994-97, was interviewed on the Manchild Show, (AM 1260 in Syracuse), and Manchild asked me to look up how many SU players have Super Bowl rings. The answer is in the Media Guide, on page 180: https://cuse.com/documents/2020/8/19/2020_Media_Guide.pdf 1970 Super Bowl V John Mackey (TE) Baltimore Colts 1972 Super Bowl VII Larry Csonka (FB) Miami Dolphins 1973 Super Bowl VIII Larry Csonka (FB) * Miami Dolphins 1980 Super Bowl XV Keith Moody (DB) Oakland Raiders 1982 Super Bowl XVII Art Monk (WR) Washington Redskins 1986 Super Bowl XXI Joe Morris (RB) New York Giants 1987 Super Bowl XXII Art Monk (WR) Washington Redskins 1991 Super Bowl XXVI Art Monk (WR) Washington Redskins 1992 Super Bowl XXVII Daryl Johnston (FB) Dallas Cowboys 1993 Super Bowl XXVIII Daryl Johnston (FB) Dallas Cowboys 1994 Super Bowl XXIX Kevin Mitchell (LB) San Francisco 49ers 1995 Super Bowl XXX Daryl Johnston (FB) Dallas Cowboys 1998 Super Bowl XXXIII Melvin Tuten (OT) Denver Broncos Roland Williams (TE) Denver Broncos 2000 Super Bowl XXXV Rob Burnett (DE) Baltimore Ravens Qadry Ismail (WR/KR) Baltimore Ravens 2001 Super Bowl XXXVI Tebucky Jones (S) New England Patriots 2006 Super Bowl XLI Dwight Freeney (DE) Indianapolis Colts Marvin Harrison (WR) Indianapolis Colts Ryan LaCasse (DE/LB) Indianapolis Colts Josh Thomas (DE) Indianapolis Colts 2007 Super Bowl XLII David Tyree (WR) New York Giants 2008 Super Bowl XLIII Anthony Smith (S) Pittsburgh Steelers 2012 Super Bowl XLVII Arthur Jones (DT) Baltimore Ravens Jameel McClain (LB) Baltimore Ravens 2014 Super Bowl XLIX Chandler Jones (DE) New England Patriots I count 21 different players with 26 rings. These players have been on the losing side: 1968 Super Bowl III John Mackey (TE) Baltimore Colts 1971 Super Bowl VI Larry Csonka (FB) Miami Dolphins 1 1980 Ken Clarke (NT) Philadelphia Eagles Stan Walters (OT) Philadelphia Eagles 1981 Super Bowl XVI Dave Lapham (OT) Cincinnati Bengals 1983 Super Bowl XVIII Art Monk (WR) Washington Redskins 1984 Super Bowl XIX Mike Charles (DT) Miami Dolphins 1989 Super Bowl XXIV Pat Kelly (TE) Denver Broncos 1996 Super Bowl XXXI Dave Wohlabaugh (C) New England Patriots 1997 Super Bowl XXXII Paul Frase (DL) Green Bay Packers 2004 Super Bowl XXXIX Donovan McNabb (QB) Eagles 2009 Super Bowl XLIV Dwight Freeney (DE) Indianapolis Colts 2016 Super Bowl LI Dwight Freeney (DE) Atlanta Falcons That's 12 players, 4 of whom were also on the above list. Dwight's the only SU guy who has lost a Super Bowl twice. That's 29 players who have played in the Super Bowl 39 times. We are 19-10 in Super Bowls with SU players on one side. Super Bowl 15 is the only one that had SU players on both sides. Compare that to the SU basketball players who played in the NBA Finals: Billy Gabor, Syracuse Nationals 1950 and 1954 Dennis DuVal, Baltimore Bullets 1975 Marty Byrnes, Los Angeles Lakers 1980 Only Marty got a ring. Dion Waiters got a ring for being on the 2020 Lakers, (he was also on the 2020 heat so he wo9uld have gotten a ring either way), but he was hurt and didn't actually play in the finals. And I thought we were a basketball school.
