The annual [I]Letters To My Brother[/I]. I got a chuckle from the post above that recalled the ire of newbies who came ac[I]ross Why XXX Will Win[/I] posts first before the corresponding [I]Why Syracuse Will Win[/I] post.

And I was pleasantly reminded in another poignant post above of Steve’s annu[I]al Start of Spring[/I] tradition after the last Syracuse loss of basketball season. Personally, I endure winter, but like many, spring has come way too early in recent years.

Through it all, SWC has been a constant. “What do you mean we’re going to a tailgate with your Internet friends,” said my young bride in 1998 before the Tennessee game. “We don’t even know these people.”

I never did meet Steve. At least not that I recall. But we all got to [I]know[/I] him. Heck, the kid who wasn’t even born back when that tailgate took place in the fall of 1998 knew him.

When you hang out in a place for the better part of three decades, you get to know a lot of people. Some better than others.

This is a big loss for the community. But we are all better for being a part of it.
