  • Fran Brown with Extra Prep Time
    – Give Coach Brown two weeks and a reason to prove a point? That’s a bad recipe for Pitt. He’s shown he can rally the team after a rough outing, and coming off a bye, you know he’s been hammering fundamentals and film.

  • Collins’ Growth Window
    – Rickie Collins is still raw, but the flashes are there. Two more weeks as QB1 means extra reps, extra chemistry with the receivers, and a chance to iron out those “rookie” reads. If he avoids turnovers, the offense can finally settle in and find rhythm.

  • Pitt’s Defense is Leaking Oil
    – Pitt’s defense is banged up — thin at defensive end, patching holes with a converted tackle, and missing key safeties. They’ve been giving up both chunk runs and intermediate passes. That’s a green light for Willis on the ground and Collins to hit those seams.

  • Ground Game Advantage
    – Yasin Willis has been a bright spot, averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Pitt’s front seven has struggled to maintain gap integrity when tired, and SU’s offensive line has been more physical lately. Establish the run early, and everything else opens up.

  • Balanced Attack Developing
    – Emmanuel Ross is starting to emerge as a true playmaker, and SU’s young wideouts are growing each week. Add in Willis and a tight end safety valve, and suddenly Collins doesn’t have to do it all alone. A balanced attack will stress Pitt’s injury-thinned defense.

  • Defense Has Been Better Than the Record Shows
    – Despite some ups and downs, the defense has kept SU in games. Young guys like Deslauriers are getting more comfortable, and the front seven has started generating pressure. Against a Pitt offense that’s been inconsistent all season, this could be a get-right game.

  • Special Teams Edge
    – Once again, Stonehouse and Woody give SU an advantage in the kicking game. Field position matters in rivalry games, and Pitt’s special teams have been nothing special. Win the field position battle, win the momentum battle.

  • Chip on Their Shoulder
    – Let’s not sugarcoat it — Pitt embarrassed Syracuse last year. Fran Brown knows it, the players know it, and they’ve had two weeks to sit with it. Expect an emotional, physical, pride-driven performance from a team looking to make a statement.

I really appreciate you doing these post to keep SWC a part of our community. Well done!

Pat Narduzzi may just be an Idiot Savant
There's two versions of Coach Narduzzi; the Russian Chessmaster who knows your every move, and the 7 y/o who picked up Madden and thinks a dig route must involve a shovel. There's a good chance he'll be well prepared for, well, whatever it is he expects to see tomorrow. There's also a good chance we serve up something else entirely and watch in splendor as he fails to adjust.

Boy, sure hope you’re correct!🙏🏻

Their freshman QB looked light years ahead of Ricky in their FSU game. Sorry, but I dont see us getting a W unless Ricky makes a huge leap.

I got one more for you.

  • COACHES WILL CALL PLAY ACCORDING TO THE FIELD
    • They will start developing players and call them based on the field rather than a predetermined wish list of plays they want done.
    • Instead they will call plays based on ability and strengths of the players on the field to perform and not the wish list of we can make 1 yard. Instead of repeat it constantly which seems to only humiliate a single team member.
    • This would be based on both individual and team strengths and team cohesiveness versus past blind play calling and throwing out players to injury vs throwing into perform scrimmages plays.

This season has a 2011 vibe. That season, we were lucky to win every game to get to 4-2... and the two losses were ugly. There was no reason to think we could even be competitive against a real good WVU team. And then, out of nowhere, we stomped WVU in the Dome. Can this be our once every decade out-of-nowhere rival stomping game equivalent? Or did we use that at Clemson?

I like, now I just need to get up to Canada like I was for that WVU game...

We were all around the better team at Clemson. No luck involved.

If Collins can get a little more comfortable and let the game slow down, that let's the rest of the team play. QBs take a while to settle down.

Bills fans remember Allen's second year not so fondly... He was a turnover/throw to the wrong place/run when he has wide open receivers machine.

Players get better.
