Symir coming back?

Love Symir but I would hope we can bring in a PG with more offensive ability. And I think he could find more PT at a lower level school.

Yeah does he have a higher ceiling?? Just don't see it.

So if Judah was not coming back, you don't replace him with Symir. Not trying to harsh on Symir, obviously a great young man but Red has to make the tough call there. If Mintz is gone you take that suddenly freed up Nil and call Jaden Bradley and his mom in Rochester and tell them it's his team to run.

Judah and Symir getting most of the minutes at the point next season makes it very easy to sell Bethea on getting the keys in 2024-25

What about JJ Chance Cope

Symir likely impacts those three very little. Backup pg... competes, stays home, gets a shot next year as a GA and to get into coaching. Most minutes go to the talented youth as well. Just a guess. Really think being local, family and a coaching opportunity to me is what might be the key here... not so much a major playing time opportunity

Symir might be finding it difficult hooking up with another program because he only has 1 year of eligibility left If he knows Judah is not returning I would take him back in a heart beat for a PG. who could provide a few minutes off the bench and is a hell of a M2M defender he could upgrade his academics here for his final year and really help JJ - Cope and Chance improve their game.

I mean other than Dean's call out have we even ever expressed interest?
To my knowledge no and I just see what you all are. Under a scenario of Judah not returning, I would think Red goes hard for a top gun. Syracuse, new leadership, JJ and Westry added, the dome, yadda yadda. It's a prestige opening. I think Red would go aggressive now unless as Upstate says he goes chips in on Bethea.

I don't read it as anything more than, we've got more scholarships available than we maybe thought, and with it getting down to the wire it could have been as simple as, "hey Sy, I can't promise you a ton of playing time, but you still have a spot here and I'd like you to be a strong leader for the young guys."

On a different note, “little brother” is a weird way to refer to a fellow adult. I know it’s not an uncommon phrase, and it’s meant as a term of endearment (I think), but it always comes across kinda condescending. I would not appreciate another dude calling me little bro.

Figured it was a lapse by the trainer and he wasn’t coming back. Wouldn’t have made much sense with or without Judah.

Could have seen him staying to take the last scholarship spot if he wanted to stick it out and be a part of the program. Wish him well.
