Syracuse -11 over Boston College..

Dunno about this line. I think they are a good 5-win team, if there is such a thing. Watched their last two games, a close loss to Clemson after a brutal start and road win at VTech. I don't think they are bad. Two guards (Jackson and Hanlan the Canadian) who can shoot from deep. Jackson made 5 threes in the first half against Tech and combined they were 7-16, many contested from way out. They have a 6'8" guy (Anderson) who averages 15 and 7 and looks like he can make a play from the high post. So there's the three components you must have against the zone. Not deep or athletic but I think they have more than a puncher's shot here. Back in the day I recall many losses to BC on the road where we had better talent, but Michael Adams or some other dude would bank in some 15' floaters. Just a feeling but I'm never wrong ... -:)

They will have the early lead as their two excellent 3 PT shooters start out hot like some teams seem to do to us. We'll extend the zone out further to neutralize this and eventually wear them down as they won't be able to handle our bigs and forwards. We end up winning by double digits.

BTW, Fla State is 14-21 from three tonight vs. Maryland. They won the ACC two years ago. They defend to the death. Another very tough out in a changing- of- the- guard ACC. I think our guys need to stay humble and work hard, as they say ...

I just had visions of John Bagley from 'downtown'. Oh my...

Line is down to nine. Odd stuff with su lines really moving down in Acc play.

It does seem odd at first, but when you consider the way this team takes the air out of the ball when they have a lead(or as one poor soul ventured to point out, all game long), combined with the shooting threat of BC as compared to UNC, and the game being on the road, it might make sense that the sharps saw 11 as too much breathing room and took it. I am not necessarily saying the game will turn out under 11, but it certainly wouldn't shock me. I haven't seen BC play so I am not giving any advice and only going by the short snippets I've read to try to guess the line movement in that direction.

LOL - shows BC's place in the pecking order. The #2 team in the country, old rival playing it's first game in Boston since joining the ACC, etc. The only mention in the Globe Sports section is under the TV listings. No story - nothing.

BC - you should feel bad.

People love taking double digit home dogs. The problem with that strategy is that you should never ever consider the half empty Conte Forum a home court

Hmmm, that scenario seems somewhat familiar...;)

I like all home dogs against top 25 teams early in the season. They were 9-4 on the weekend, 4 won outright, 2 loss in OT, and another two loss by 2 points or less.

But 2 lines have shifted quite a but this year that I noted, that seems to be more than a general betting pattern for home dogs, and more specific to Syracuse... Miami went from -17 all the way down to -12. Boston College went form -11 to now -8.5. I have not followed other top team lines, but I would hazard a guess they are not all this drastic.

I wonder if part of it is Sagarin or similar system betters. Sagarin and KP view this team very differently (KP Looks at us much more favourably), and my observations when there is a difference on a team in the two ratings , is that the line opens closer to what KP says.

But a good point raised as well about our already slow pace, slowing down even more once we get a comfortable lead, making the line attractive. Our pace is low for a top 15 team.
