It is in there nowTwo immediate reactions.
1, Conway never redshirted? If true, man... this is exactly the kind of thing that shoots us in the foot.
2, the article did not recognize Illoa as an incoming offensive lineman.

I mean geez, imagine the ripple effect of having a 5th year LT in Conway back to lead the line...Yes Conway never redshirted. He played as a freshman in 6 games including the season opener.
I also thought Byrne was a serviceable center when he played
it's crazy to not redshirt lineman. if they're stronger than the older guys, you have a big training problemI mean geez, imagine the ripple effect of having a 5th year LT in Conway back to lead the line...
Servais stays at center, doesn't slim down, and solidifies that spot.
Only one competent tackle needs to emerge. Guards are fine.
But, I mean, nah, Shafer had to win now. Because he had to.
Don't think you can blame Shafer for this year (and I wanted him gone and wanted Babers). The current staff has had 4 years to recruit and develop some linemen and have been basically totally reliant on Shafer's guys until now.Two immediate reactions.

Oh, I'm not. It's just part of my longstanding rant and perspective that we're a program that needs to really be smart about redshirting.Don't think you can blame Shafer for this year (and I wanted him gone and wanted Babers). They lost 6 of 9 recruits in a 2 year period, I'm not sure how u account for that but yikes. Here's a question I have for those that know more than me (casting a wide net there).
Based on a roster of 85, how many OL should a team have? How do we compare?

I think you could point to lots of things our line does that demonstrates consistency.when you lose guys and have guys hurt and also are not blessed when an abundant talent pool issues will crop up.. You cant scheme oline play for everything you need to do as any offense.. how many TE runs can you do?
we have done more screens to try and help it, but even in how well some have worked the blocking has not been all that good. we can go 2 TE even more but that limits other parts of the offense.
When the QB run weapon is removed another issue is added in..
if the oline was just solid at one part of the game, even if just short yardage power plays, it would help. but you cant point at anything and see consistency
How many TE runs can you do? By my count, they’ve had four TE shovel passes this season. One went for a score, another for a fourth-down conversion. All gained positive yards. We have missed at least one that would probably have produced a 20-yard-plus TD. I’d like to see more, not fewerwhen you lose guys and have guys hurt and also are not blessed when an abundant talent pool issues will crop up..
