Shafer is worth rooting for regardless of the W/L record. This not college football, not a manufacturing plant, there's a lot of change and it is how you manage that change that makes the difference. Shafer manages change well and motivates well.

With regard to this year's chances -- I really wish I could compare my enthusiasm year-over-year to determine whether I am truly more optimistic than last year OR if I just always hopeful.
