Now to put things in perspective, 12 of those losing seasons came since P left us. Nearly 38% of all losing seasons have been in the last 15 years. There was only 18 losing seasons in the first 99 years of Syracuse football. Is there any chance that Pete Reynolds or Chick Meehan are preserved in a tank in some science lab on campus? That first 20 years were a good time to be a fan. I think the biggest thing this proves, is that it all ebbs and flows. Even Alabama had crappy eras. I think it also proves that the expectations of some fans are unrealistic. This is a perfect showcase of how we can and should be a program that religiously wins between 6-9, occasionally gets to 10 or 11, and once in a while reaches the promised land with a magical 1959 or 1987 type season. I am only old enough to have started at Archbold with Maloney. I really have "liked" Babers and Shafer, and even Marrone, and will always try to support the coach. That said, I was unhappy about the P situation when it happened, and when I look at things like this, It almost angers me. You can tell me all the reasons it needed to happen, but what you cant tell me is how things would have played out if he was kept. What could he have done with improved facilities, and a different AD. I just makes me think. One thing I don't think can be denied, is it's probably time to honor P in some way. He is the all time winning BE coach, and among the best winning percentages in program history. [/QUOTE]
