Syracuse football coach Scott Shafer: 'We don't have any room' for transfers (PS)

Like a commenter on the article said, nice problem to have. It's great that we don't have tons of kids jumping ship and have a surplus of players that want to join the team.

Wow, didn't realize we were well over 100 players strong. Wasn't it during GRob's era that we were going in with just 80+, including walk-ons?

I wonder who the other guys were ... anyone know? He said multiple transfer requests ... very interesting ... wonder if it was any guys from the last class besides Malik?

Marrone era.

This quote belongs here. If any of the other freshman don't make it, then we may end up seeing Malik but he'd have to hold out until I guess July. The eligibility cutoff with standardized testing I think is sometime in June.

With Dawson's deferred enrollment, 21 other scholarship freshmen can enroll this summer and participate in August camp, but Shafer indicated that number may shrink.

"There's a couple I have concerns about whether they'll make it or not, but we'll just take it day-by-day, and as we get information hopefully it's good information," Shafer said. "I've been pleased with most of their work ethic and trying to get it done from what we've gathered. I think we're looking pretty good right now, but there's always one or two that come down to the wire, so we'll just have to wait and see how that goes."

If everyone qualifies, we'll be 3 players over the 85 limit.

Unless Nassib and Cleveland are losing their scholarships, in which case we'll only be 1 player over.
