It is true that the BE was only giving us about 3 million a year in TV money but in 2010 ESPN tried to renegotiate a TV contract with the Big East for about 1 billion dollars a year which would have given FB teams about 11-12 million dollars a year. The Big East declined the offer because of Pitt/Rutgers/ND/Gtown leaders saying that wasn't enough to stop the BE from going on the FA market(which never happened because the ACC expanded)
Gross knew the TV money was coming, but he sold these games for the additional money which honestly I don't know what he has done with it. The BoT and new Chancellor weren't too pleased with the audit of the  AD and Gross hasn't said where the $$ has gone and the lack of an IPF helpped push Marrone out of town and if the BOT didn't okay the IPF it still would be in flux.

Gross is a fine AD but these MetLife home games were a joke and he used this cash to cover some of his mistakes.
