Just re-watched the CW Bowl game. WVU ran pressure the first half. Unfortunately, even when they weren't blitzing - half their DL was in our backfield. Second half we played better and got back to ourselves (power run). This year, I agree that OL is a key concern ... we need our power run game to open up the passing game. Plus, DeVito won't play like a gun-slinger if he's running for his life. This is probably what opposing DC's are thinking - turn him into a runner so he doesn't pick them apart.I just can’t get over how far this program has come in just a few years under Dino. I mean we are talking about our Defensive ends not being the best duo in the ACC but the COUNTRY. We aren’t talking about our special teams being the best in the ACC but the COUNTRY. Our Running backs are the deepest group in the ACC from top to bottom. I’ll take our secondary over anyone else’s in the ACC. I think our receivers are top 3 in the ACC. Tommy has the potential and weapons around him to be up there with Lawrence (although admittedly tough cause Lawrence is a decades talent).
If Tommy plays like he can and our Tackles hold up I think this team wins 10 games during the regular season. I’m not as worried about inside DL or linebackers like most people. I think the whole key to the season in obviously staying as healthy as possible, Tommy and our Offensive Tackles.
I completely agree. My hope is that with our two outstanding DE's, they are seeing daily what a real rush feels like and can plan accordingly.Just re-watched the CW Bowl game last night. Definitely ... great practice for our guys. Hopefully we can also give them a rest with quick passes (per Upperdeck), screens and maybe more throws to TE's ... Hackett and Benson.I completely agree. Iron sharpens iron. I think it can only be a benefit playing those guys in practice, and once they play the real games everyone else seems easy.I completely agree. My hope is that with our two outstanding DE's, they are seeing daily what a real rush feels like and can plan accordingly.
Remember you live and die by the blitz !I completely agree. My hope is that with our two outstanding DE's, they are seeing daily what a real rush feels like and can plan accordingly.
Syracuse's last two first round picks went against each other in practice everyday for two years.Iron sharpens iron. I think it can only be a benefit playing those guys in practice, and once they play the real games everyone else seems easy.
