So I should just ignore "will not get the chance to shine on college basketball's biggest stage in his senior year" because that is obviously a positive thing to say.

Just out of respect for the Christmas I would have wrote about his dramatic improvement from his Junior year and how he created a great chance to get drafted into the NBA.  Instead, Mike turned it into a story about NCAA sanctions.

I will try to see it your way but I find it hard when it seems he's always pointing out something bad at the end of every sentence.
