Syracuse men’s lacrosse fans: Time to adjust to sport’s competitive landscape

I understand there are more quality teams. I also understand that some other traditional powerhouses like Hopkins and Princeton have struggled. And yes SU did rebound nicely this season. but at the end of the season they were the #1 ranked RPI team, #2 overall seed, and lost at home in their first game. That is still a major fail. The #2,3 &4 seeds lost to : Bryant, Albany and Drexel! And only Albany was competitive in their next game. I'm not sure there is a better coach than Desko out there that SU can hire but some tweaks are needed.

The problem is glaring weaknesses and issues that do not get addressed during the season or even season to season. Total embarrassment out there vs Bryant. There are some high school coaches who could have come up with a better game plan than that. SU cannot just outclass it's opponents anymore. The Bryant loss was inexcusable.

My question to everyone here is, if Gait is making 700K, what is Desko making... Let's put forth the notion that no other school probably pays as much for Lax as we do. Perhaps, Hopkins...

This comment in no way reflects a desire to see Desko go, just a curious thought that a coach who produces more revenue, leads the country in attendance, and has won 5 titles, may not make as much as his female counterpart who hasn't won anything and averages less than 1k per game in attendance? Not a morale booster, in house... Yikes!
