I think I understand what Bees is trying to say, although he and I disagree as to the extent of the "destruction" Robinson brought to the program. I agree with Bees that he wasn't as atrocious a recruiter as everyone makes him out to be. But I disagree that Robinson didn't leave a huge hole that SU couldn't climb out of. The prestige and tradition factor SU used to live off of with recruits in the 80s and 90s was destroyed as all kids pay attention to is the here and now. Honestly, I think Marrone has done the best job recruiting as any coach could have when in this situation. The door to getting really talented and highly sought after kids is now gone thanks to Robinson and that is not going to change for at least another five years (depending on the team's record). This is the hole that is killing the program right now, kids are allowing Marrone to talk to them, but not seriously considering SU. Ishaq and Jarron Jones are two perfect examples; they both grew up in a Syracuse culture with Williams' parents being alums and Jones' family being SU fans. They had to think about their future and they realized that they'd have a better shot at the pros at a more successful program. Wins brings recruits, and big name wins not beating two 1AA teams to get to a crap bowl game. It's time to start winning and taking risks again, not letting the other team take control of the fate of the game as Marrone (so far), Robinson, and Pasqualoni all like(d) to do.
