SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The "Fine Mess" tailgate began in 2007 with 10-15 people in Stadium West's Fine Parking Lot, its namesake. Today, Fine Mess draws about 100 people for every Syracuse home game, covering nearly the entire back row of cars in the lot. Usually they'll have close to 150 guests for Clemson and FSU games.
Fine Mess tailgaters hail from across the United States. There are visitors from New Jersey, Nebraska, Tennessee, even one guy who just flew in from a Vietnam work trip.
One of the two main organizers, Mark Bradwick, resides in San Antonio, Texas. He's a 1977 North Syracuse graduate but returns every year.
"We're the biggest tailgate in Stadium West," said Bradwick. "We're the sports junkies. We're an extended family developed through the internet, linked through syracusefan.com"
