I'd rate it a top five game in Syracuse history. Some might say it wasn't that long ago, and others will say it was generations ago. Regardless, it definitely feels more ten years ago. Watch it and just shake your head at the talent. Or maybe better yet, maybe the entire staff should watch it.

Who on the current team would get even negligible minutes on that squad? Maybe some for Eddie, but I couldn't really see anybody else. God knows JJ wouldn't get minutes over Trevor.

Loved it. Thanks for posting. That team was coached. And had players. And the players played. Even played defense!!!!!

The transition of “Richardson has gone mad!” into the Bennett blank stare plus “Syracuse…..back from the dead on Easter Sunday!” are forever embedded into my memory. Ian Eagle was ON that day.

Also, this poor kid & the endless Perrantes finger smell memes.

IMO, a properly coached Donnie Freeman would definitely get some PT. I think Starling, Eddie and Jyare would be part of the rotation also. Possibly even Bell on those few times per year he just goes off. Obviously none of those guys would need to play heavy minutes. It would be limited and situational based on their production on a given night.

Players like Carlos, Naheem and a few others would never see the floor.

2016 wasn’t like the 2010 or 2012 team. That roster had flaws even though the season ended amazingly.

Let's not forget Lydon hitting a 3 with only one shoe on. "This team is like Cinderella".

With the way Starling, Lampkin, and Bell play defense it would be really hard to believe they’d see the floor under Boeheim on that 2016 team. With how much he prioritized defense (until his sons got there). Maybe Lampkin because he does some other things really well.

In this hypothetical, I’m operating under the assumption that playing under JB would light a bit of a fire under them and not allow lazy defense to an extent.

Fair, but I think we end up with a much better record had JB not been suspended and the NCAA suddenly pulled the rug and moved up the suspension the eve of the Georgetown game. We were terrible in his absence. I think if we have him we beat Clemson, Georgetown, and St. John’s.

The Gonzaga game the Friday before was just as exciting and heart attack inducing.

I remember when we cut the UNC lead to 7 as well and thinking maybe we could do it again… that whole run was an absolute blast. Need to watch the 2013 run, this one then the next two sweet 16 runs to fill the March void

That was a fun run. I played hoops in LA wearing all Cuse gear with some buddies and Jerry Ferrara in the lead up to the FF. Just about everyone was rooting for us that year.

“Back from the dead, on Easter Sunday!”

That was an incredible weekend to be a Cuse fan. It’s games like these where Boeheims in game coaching really shined.

Love Tony Bennett, but I loved him even more when the camera panned to him during our comeback and he had that look of “there’s nothing I can do about this”.

2025 Team will win the ACC to get into the tournament FAIR and SQUARE!!
2016 team couldn't even win the Tuesday ACC game, and was somewhat lucky to back its way in.

JB seemed to generally do better in the NCAAs when they were out of the conference tourney earlier.

That team rolled 6.5 deep. Eddie would get some minutes since the only real center was a hobbled Coleman.

Other than that it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Freeman getting minutes over Gbinije, Malachai, Lydon, Cooney and Roberson.

Meanwhile, the three guys who took the most 3 pointers on that team were Cooney, Gbinije and Richardson, who shot 35%, 39% and 35% respectively.

But by all means, give JJ the green light anytime anywhere. ;)

I agree that a 100% Donnie might get a few minutes. I wouldn't want Lydon off the floor for too long. My thought on JJ was simply that his defense is terrible and I'm don't know if the zone would have covered that up enough. A motivated Roberson would really limit Jyare I think.

Brought tears of joy. Then sadness as we were nowhere near that level.
