There is one thing, and only one thing, that needs to happen for SU to be "back" and that is winning on the field. There is no debating that fact that the things you mention should help with that objective, but their existence guarantees nothing in the long term. You have to win and you have to win now. Take this season, the definition for success, IMO, was getting to bowl. Falling short of that mark will deny the kids and the program the opportunity for continued development through the extra practice, make recruiting more difficult, and further erode the national perception of the program. But, beating BC allows the program to continue to build on Marrone's momentum - with a very long way yet to go.

It is really that simple. Losing this year (i.e. not making a bowl) will put tremendous pressure on the staff and players to win next year. There is already an impact on attendance. Not making it to a bowl again next year will sink the program to the bottom of the ACC, both in terms of national perception and the ability to attract enough high end talent.

BC is a must win to begin to move in the direction you are suggesting. It's also a must win, in my mind anyway, to provide further evidence that this staff is not in way over their collective heads.
