All teams 22 through 25 lost yesterday. Syracuse looked and played like a top 15 team. We will and should be ranked no worse than 23rd. Kentucky being ranked as high as they are frustrates me that we are still not ranked.

Rankings come out today, and it depends on what poll you're referencing. The two that hold any weight are the coaches, and the ap. We may be ranked in the coaches, but that one holds less weight than the AP. The coaches is usually filled out by one of the assistants. The AP poll holds more weight. The problem is that we were ranked 37th i beleive heading into the game yesterday. What teams 22-25 did doesn't matter as much as what teams 26-36 did. I don't think we get ranked. Most AP voters don't vote you into the top 25 after a loss. Brent Axe is a voter in the AP, and said it rarely happens. This morning however, Axe said he is voting for them for the top 25. Brent Axe has had the benefit of watching every snap of every game. I doubt any of the other AP voters have, so it'll be interesting to see if the others vote for them based off a loss.

I think we get ranked in the coaches poll, and remain out of the ap, but receive a few more votes moving us up to around 30.

Last week I was really angsty about getting in those rankings as soon as possible just to get the streak over with.

This week I feel differently. I feel very confident that we’ll get there if we beat Pitt. Throw in the bye week where more other teams will lose, then UNC...in 3 weeks we’ll have a good shot to be pushing top 15 as long as we beat two teams that we’re better than. So far this year we’ve had little problem with teams that we’re better than.

I feel good about things.

Are we a top 25 team, yes. Will we be in the official top 25, no. Still have some work to do before getting in. Pitt might do it. Pitt and UNC probably will. Coaches poll doesn’t really hold that much weight anymore. The AP is what we want to be in.

I agree completely.

I hope to be ranked in the AP, but am very confident that we will beat Pitt, which 99.9% gets us ranked somewhere between 20-25. We then have a bye week, sitting at 5-1 and ranked to move up a spot or two. Beat UNC to move to 6-1 and we are Top 20, heading into a showdown with NC State. (if only we got State before Clemson, they’d be probably undefeated).

Bottom Line, this is the year we start to definitively beat teams we’re better than. We are better than Pitt and UNC. Do that and we’re not only Top 25, we’re probably ranked in the teens, looking to make a statement against the Wolfpack.

I would love to get ranked today, but I can't see us getting ranked after a loss despite our great showing. Rank inertia is a cruel mistress.

I think that in the AP poll, BYU, Duke, Miss. St., Cal, and TTU all drop out. I expect the following schools to replace them - (alpha) Colorado, Florida, NC State, Okla. St., and VT. We were 36th last week, I think the best we climb is to 26 or 27, but could be lower.

Hope I am proven wrong.

Cheers,
Neil

Looking at a couple of AP ballots:
1. Those that had Syracuse in, kept Syracuse in.
2. Those that didn’t have Syracuse, still don’t have Syracuse in and dropped Clemson (as low as 7).

We really need this team to finish well and keep it going next year in order to change national perception.

NC State will beat Clemson, then we beat NC State thus putting the 3 of us in a 3 way tie for the division. Thats how i see things going down.

I can see it if Clem doesnt have the Qb situaition figure out.. Teams will not sit back like we did and allow one play to beat them
