Syracuse, N.Y. -- Derrick Coleman, the former Syracuse University basketball star, has been selected as part of the ACC's 2015 class of basketball legends.

The 2015 Legends class includes 13 former players and two coaches.

The Legends will be recognized during the 2015 ACC Tournament, which will be held March 10-14 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Does Derrick still get to go if we are banned from the post season? Would seem pretty odd to see him get honored as an ACC Basketball Legend, but to do it at an ACC tournament we don't even get to participate in would be really strange.

That is just wrong.

Legend? Clearly.

Syracuse Legend? Absolutely.

ACC Legend? NFW.

don't like it . not one bit. hope our DC would rock a BIG EAST baby!!!! #44 tee and swing roundhouse at the first joker who dare told him to take it off. the arrogance of the ACC.

Hopefully they honor Kenny Smith and JR Reid also...

and Leonard Kevin Bias (November 18, 1963 – June 19, 1986) .

Add in that he never played in an ACC game. This is weird all the way around.

Floyd Little was named an ACC Football Legend last year.

Just go with it.

That doesn't bother me. We weren't in a conference and it makes some sense that the ACC would honor our past greats.

Derek is so associated with the Big East Syracuse though. I'm glad the ACC is recognizing him, but he is and always will be a Big East legend.

Kenny Smith and JR Reid were tongue-in-cheek..

They were two of the starters on that '87 Carolina team.

Its weird. I get that they are trying to incorporate the new teams histories into the conference to help solidify it but it doesn't quite smell right. It doesn't bother me either.

This is like NASCAR taking Winston Cup race wins and morphing them into Sprint Cup wins. It's only re-writing history to benefit the current institution. In a few years it will look like JB was an all-time ACC coaching legend. :bang:

Lame. Weak. Bogus.

I hope they show highlights of our elite 8 win over UNC in 87.

The ACC really should only induct players who actually played in the conference.

Therefore I hereby nominate SU's first ACC legend to be CJ Fair.

Rak has the inside track on next year's nomination.

also being honored: Donald Hand, Guard, Virginia

and his dad
