Was he some great chancellor that propped the school into the top 40 and then boozy Buzz Shaw kept us there? I feel like we're overrating the chancellor a bit here with the rankings.

As an alum i'm outraged that I went to a school with a bozo ranking. I graduated from Newhouse which is a highly selective school within the school but ball don't lie with regards to the rankings. If I knew this when I was applying i'd have gone to BC or Tufts. Both have ascended in the 30 plus years since I stumbled out of 44s for the last time.

Some schools (northeastern) have cooked the books to make them more selective (articles on how they did it) and other schools have made themselves more attractive to all sorts of students (SU). Not sure what is better but in terms of owning a luxury item, my degree went from being a Mercedes to a Volvo.
