Matt Matulis Source: Nike Football Camps Position: Offensive Tackle School: Park Vista (Class of 2015) Height: 6-4 Weight: 297 Top Offers: Syracuse, UAB Note: Siblings are accomplished athletes...brother Mike an OL at South Carolina, brother Chris pitched in Milwaukee Brewers farm system. Where He Excels: Matulis finishes his blocks. This not only secures a running lane for the ball carrier but also wears down the opposing defense. When he isn't getting a pancake block Matt does a great job of turning his body to seal off the defender. Good footwork allows him to get out of his out of his stance quickly for initial contact. Climbs to the next level very well. Keeps hands inside which allows him to "steer the ship" while avoid holding calls. What To Work On: While Matulis has good hand placement, he allows defenders to get in on him. I'd like to see more arm extension on his initial punch. This can be fixed with a small technique adjustment but usually corrects itself as the player get stronger in their bench and incline. Looked good on few clips of him pass blocking but would like to see more. Kokell's Film Analysis: Matt Matulis could just rely on the names of his brothers to get looks from colleges (brothers Chris and Mike both received Division I scholarships in baseball and football) but instead he plays like he wants everyone to remember HIS name. Matt is a big tackle that will anchor a Park Vista offensive line that annually has a strong running game. He is a nasty run blocker that plays with an attitude. Looks like he really enjoys punishing any defender that gets in his way.
