Joey Bosa of Ohio State just had his career end on a targeting call. it was a good call and he knows the rule so I'm not sorry for him.
But I've noticed that helmets these days have slits cut in them and one group of slits forms a sort of pentagon or hexagon at the crown fo the helmet. I wonder if that's designed to "give" a little when a player makes contact with the crown of the helmet to lessen the impact.
