Gainesville (Fla.) linebacker Tashon Whitehurst has been committed to Syracuse for six months but the 6-foot-3, 197 pound senior could be having a change of heart after taking an official visit to South Florida this weekend.

"It was a great visit, and I learned a lot about the program," Whitehurst said.

Whitehurst said he decided to take the visit in December after discussing things with his parents. His best friend and former teammate, Christopher Bivins, is already enrolled at South Florida.

I really like Tashon, hoping we can keep him, but to tell you the truth I am not sure if I like him or Glanton better. Tashon's ceiling seems very high, but it could take a solid two years, or perhaps more, before he is ready to be thought of as a starter. Glanton seems more physically prepared to help out early, though.

Can't say I'm shocked-This guy has been a soft verbal since the day he committed

Tashon - ACC vs. Big East

What makes more sense?

Lock him up. Move on.

There is a lot about USF that makes more sense than Cuse... but I do hope he has a burning desire to play Miami and FSU every year to show them they were wrong not to offer him.

The rest of the article doesn't sound good for Cuse. Friends and proximity to home might win out.

If he flips, it would have to be for reasons more unrelated to football IMO...they have no defensive coordinator or linebackers coach at the present time...

If his parents and friends are in his ear, looks good for USF.

He's been a soft verbal since he committed. It's not like he's some blue chipper, let him go. Use the schollie for someone better.

He's one of our higher ranked recruits on Rivals, has offers from numerous BCS programs, and is still committed to us.

But yeah, let's "let him go" and use the schollie on someone better... Any names in mind? Not like this class is full. How about Darius Parson with his zero offers... or lets take Glanton away from FIU with no other BCS offers.

The kid wants to be sure he's making the right choice. Nothing is official until Feb. 2nd. To pull his schollie is shortsighted and stupid.

You are awful serious lately. Its just people being fans on the board. I agree that kids have every right to look around, I just question what is the point of giving a soft verbal.

He's not "committed". He gave a soft verbal, and has been looking at other programs ever since.

None of his offers are really that great. I don't see the point in wanting him so bad.

It's not about wanting him overly bad, it's about the fact that there's no need to cut him loose for looking around. He clearly likes us a lot. We're not just going to stop talking to him because USF is entering the picture hard. If we lose him, so be it. But there's no need to be so defeatist about it.
