Team Party at Coach Shafer's

The more I see of Schafer, the more I think he is essentially a big kid.

And that's Awesome.

Robinson:
incompetent | could relate to college players | could not instill discipline

Marrone:
competent | may have had trouble relating to the college player | could instill discipline

HCSS:
competent | can related to college players | can be a disciplinary

The vote is still out on HCSS, but that's my back of the envelope scorecard.

Define discipline.

Missed the thread that was already started and had this video if mods want to merge the two
Looks like we both have been on Twitter tonight.

I could be way off here but I imagine a fair amount of coaches wouldn't have players over at their house to hang out with them in their pool.

I couldn't imagine king saban, the butcher of south bend, or a lot of these other guys willingly doing this.

And although it's not the main purpose of the gathering, this does make great PR in the recruiting cycle, no?

It certainly doesnt hurt to have imagery to back up that our coach is legitimately a good guy. He had the entire team over last year before the season. I remember the picture from that because Bromley was almost as big as the house.

Sagan has players over. The 60 Minutes infomercial/Bama recruiting video had Mrs. Sabah talking about how they had to make sure the decorative rocks surrounding the pool could handle a 350lb guy jumping off because they jump off everything.

Sagan & Sabah!

Full Definition of DISCIPLINE 1: punishment 2 obsolete : instruction 3: a field of study 4: training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character 5a : control gained by enforcing obedience or order b : orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior c : self-control 6: a rule or system of rules governing conduct or activity Think he was referencing #4.

I didn't think he was seeing as how many got in trouble off the field.

I think Marrone did a better job of making it feel like things were disciplined vs actually having a disciplined team, but that's still a positive change from the GRob era.

I think Shafer is an absolute perfect fit for Syracuse and the college game in general. He's obviously very appreciative to have a chance to be a HC as well. He obviously loves the student athlete. That said, if he can't win games people won't like him, if he wins games at a decent clip, have to be realistic, he will be loved by the community. I don't think anyone dislikes the guy, very difficult to do so. I think the diehards already love the guy, casual fan base is moving that way, just have to keep building.
