Here are the actual high temperatures in Syracuse for each day in December 2020 compared to the average high, (based on stats that go back to 1901) and the difference that day, + or – as well as a running deficit or surfeit. Here is the website I used for these numbers: Accuweather now gives the historical averages but not the actual high for each date: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/syracuse/13202/december-weather/329675 I used this for the daily highs: https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/usa/syracuse/historic?month=12&year=2020 The numbers are the date, the actual high, the historical average high, the net difference, the cumulative net since January 1st, the numbers of days we exceeded the historical average, the number of days we didn't reach it and the number of days we tied it. December 2020 12/01 46 – 42 = +4 = +1125 = 211-113-12 12/02 37 – 41 = -4 = +1121 = 211-114-12 12/03 46 – 41 = +5 = +1126 = 212-114-12 12/04 46 – 40 = +6 = +1132 = 213-114-12 12/05 39 – 40 = -1 = +1131 = 213-115-12 12/06 32 – 40 = -3 = +1128 = 213-116-12 12/07 30 – 39 = -9 = +1119 = 213-117-12 12/08 30 – 39 = -9 = +1110 = 213-118-12 12/09 30 – 38 = -8 = +1102 = 213-119-12 12/10 37 – 38 = -1 = +1101 = 213-120-12 12/11 43 – 38 = +5 = +1106 = 214-120-12 12/12 55 – 37 = +18 = +1124 = 215-120-12 12/13 55 – 37 = +18 = +1125 = 216-120-12 12/14 37 – 37 = 0 = +1125 = 216-120-13 12/15 32 – 36 = -4 = +1121 = 216-121-13 12/16 25 – 36 = -11 = +1110 = 216-122-13 12/17 27 – 36 = -9 = +1101 = 216-123-13 12/18 28 – 35 = -7 = +1094 = 216-124-13 12/19 30 – 35 = -5 = +1089 = 216-125-13 12/20 37 – 35 = +2 = +1091 = 217-125-13 12/21 43 – 34 = +9 = +1110 = 218-125-13 12/22 39 – 34 = +5 = +1115 = 219-125-13 12/23 43 – 34 = +9 = +1124 = 220-125-13 12/24 52 – 34 = +18 = +1125 = 221-125-13 12/25 54 – 34 = +20 = +1126 = 222-125-13 12/26 28 – 33 = -5 = +1121 = 222-126-13 12/27 36 – 33 = +3 = +1124 = 223-126-13 12/28 45 – 33 = +12 = +1136 = 224-126-13 12/29 30 – 33 = -3 = +1133 = 224-127-13 12/30 45 – 33 = +12 = +1145 = 225-127-13 12/31 41 – 32 = +9 = +1154 = 226-127-13 Comments: 2020 was the seventh year I’ve kept track of temperatures and by far the warmest. We wound up +1154 degrees. In 2016 we were +653 degrees. The other positive years are a fraction of those two: +64 in 2015 and +43 in 2019. We ‘won’ 226 days by exceeding the average high. We did that 205 times in 2016, 182 in 2015 and 173 in 2019. The other years we lost more games than we won. In 2020 we won January, February, March, June, July, August, September, November and December. We lost October 15-16, tied May 15-15-1 and only lost April, 11-18-1.
