although it's a bit hazy from a bunch of nice rums, I seem to remember our tempo caused major havoc last night. Must of been half a dozen plays where Clemson wasn't set up or close to it. There was one where the d-line wasn't even down or looking at us! We started the play and they just kind of reacted. Simply brilliant... If fast football like this isn't the near future of the game, I don't know what is. so,so,so glad we are getting in on it early...

The tempo was great but I thought the dramatic shifts where guys moved to several different spots before running the play opened up some matchups we could take advantage of. Having said all of that, the unsung heros of this win was the offensive line. They were seen as our weakest unit and actually helped run the ball effectively on that first series. Some by design, some due to improvisation. But they grew up last night.

Oh, absolutely. Clemson looked out of sorts, systemically. They have some monsters with such incredible raw talent that they still made plays (#99? Geez) but that did not look like a defense that felt confident.

Or offense for that matter, really. Clemson was definitely surprised.

A quick count shows 83 plays to 57, I may be off a little, but 26 plays is almost like an extra half for the defense. With little to no substitutions, that is a tough row to hoe.

As OburgOrange said, Kudos to Clemson for no fake injuries to slow the game and/or sub in fresh guys.

Have to give Clemson some props. They didn't lay down like Pitt or MTSU to take us out of our rhythm
But a good amount of our fans still booed their injuries as if they were. I recall the absolute outrage of this board when their fans did the same during our first trip down there. There were multiple articles on .com condemning it. Funny how the tide turns. I wasn't a fan of the "Let's Go Orange" chant as Bryant lay motionless on the field after getting his head slammed to the turf (though it was a clean hit).

Did Syracuse fans boo Clemson’s offensive p,Ayers when they went down? I don’t think so.
Hence, not a valid comparison.

^^^ This was extremely effective for 2-3 series, then Clemson really made some adjustments. Those pre-snap movements caused some serious problems for Clemson when they first happened though...as HCDFB said post game...paraphrasing "this game was a chess match, we definitely did some new things and we asked the players to do some new things in game"...overall very impressed with the in game adjustments last night...and impressed with Clemsons as well...last night was punch/counter punch...was fun to watch

Fair point, but plenty here were outraged that they booed Ron Thompson, Eskeridge, & especially Raymon because of his injury history. I'll leave it at that, no need to rehash.

99 is a freaking monster one of the best defensive players I have seen play against the orange in a while. He is a freak.

I loved how we added even more unique looks this game. Lots of game specific wrinkles being added in as this group gets more and more comfortable with the system. Makes us that much harder to plan for. Really impressed by how much we have now incorporated Pierce. Changes the defenses blitz packages or creates a mismatch.

I was sitting with the line players parents last night. The first 1/4 plus they were talking about our guys getting beat and having issues. I don’t really know the ins and outs of line play but after the second half of the second quarter they were talking about how great they were doing. Not sure if it was adjustments or tempo beating them up but people who know more than me seemed to notice a big difference

Huddles are stupid. We are taking advantage of so much low hanging fruit by not huddling and not putting as much
