I think that is the 2nd time I recall this happening to us this year. A beneficial clock that we burn when opposition gets extra 20 seconds due to kicked ball.

It's an instinctive move, trying to deny the entry pass as the clock is winding down.
Fouling a 3-point shooter would qualify as "not understanding the game/clock situation". An incidental kicked ball does not.

How is a kick ball bad luck ? It’s only a kick if it’s intentional. An intelligent player who knows the rule and factors in score / time should have the wherewithal to not kick the ball . There is a reason it almost never happens
