The most important thing from all I read right now about Texas is that their Boosters and Fans don't want to fall behind Texas A&M in any area even in perception. They had the big win over Oklahoma.  If Baylor blows them out, they'll be right back where they started though.   Steve Patterson apparently cleaned house at Arizona State which impressed them.
 
As for television, they are not going to want to see Texas A&M being in the SEC who shows all their games on an Eastern Time Zone schedule (Saturday at 3:30, 7:00 and 8:00)  get any advantage over Texas being shown at night on Fox Sports 1.  And for what it is worth, the Big XII ratings on Big Fox have not been that great compared to CBS, ABC and ESPN.   For this reacon, I can't imagine any interest in the PAC 12 by Texas.   They are on at 10:30 pm eastern all the time.
 
In thinking how this might impact the ACC, I would think Steve Patterson to be better than Oliver Luck for the ACC if the ACC were interested in any affiliation.  Oliver Luck probably doesn't like the ACC given the experience at West Virginia.  Steve Patterson would have to be neutral at best and probably not all that familiar with the ACC.
