Those things will hopefully make us a more attractive prospective employer should we choose to move on from Shafer.  If we do, then the last factor is going to be very important.  If we want to make a cheap, unproven hire--sure it might work out, but we can probably expect more of the same when it comes to on-field results if we don't knock it out of the park with who we select.  The days of paying "hometown" discount compensation need to come to an end.  You get what you pay for.  Fortunately, we aren't nearly as cash strapped as we were 5, 10 years ago.  We're going to need to open up the checkbook to bring in a high caliber candidate and pay for quality ACs.  I think we're in a position to do that now, whereas we weren't even just a few short years ago.
 
Of course, none of this would be necessary if Shafer / Lester right a listing ship that is taking on water.  I'm pulling for them, but games like Saturday make it increasingly difficult.
