Around the time of the LSU football game, I remember thinking that the team seemed so exciting and had so much potential that hoops season would sneak up on us. Oops.
But just like its been for the majority of seasons the past 16 years, I'm relieved that basketball season is finally here--even if this isn't going to be one of our vintage teams.
A lot has been made out of the freshman and what they'll bring to the table, but IMO it is the upperclassmen who will determine what this team's ceiling is. Gbinije / Cooney are proven commodities, but can they ratchet it up a notch?
Now that Roberson has a year of starting experience under his belt, is he ready to just relax and play? Is he capable of delivering 14 and 9?
And the big guy in the middle hasn't stayed healthy for a full season. Will he be able to bounce back from major lower body surgery? Can he avoid the injury bug? How much ring rust will there be, and how long will it take him to shed it?
Those four are the keys to the season, IMO.
