That Orange Preview w/ Scoop on the Cover

Wow. Can't believe that. Maybe a better title would have been something like "Perseverance"

At least it's a good pic of Scoop. He deserves the cover...or maybe him and KJo.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. We all know he was the target of a lot of fan anger last year. He knows it, we know it, everyone knows it. It's not a secret so why hide it?

is really pretty harsh. "Love him or hate him" about your star player on the cover of the preview, so you have to be reminded of that all season long? I don't recall anything like that from a so-called "fan" magazine ever before.

I think it was an honest cover. If you read this board... you see both opinions expressed ... sometimes with great passion.

I am not embarrassed to admit that I am in the "love" column. As I have frequently posted here.

Mike Waters reads this board. He knows how skitzo SU fans are about Scoop. We may have provided the inspiration for the cover.

Anger should never come into play when you're talking about a college basketball player.

I thought the cover was tasteless (or at least poorly worded). The Sub-Standard's shouldn't be pitching "Hey, here're some of the rude names you ignorant hicks called this college kid last year" as the theme for this season. I guess Scoop is a good sport about this, but the newspaper - especially the beat writers - ought to be above the fray of internet name-calling and Monday-morning-quarterbacking. That stuff is what gives life to message boards like this one, but it's poor journalism to dignify that back-and-forth with a cover.

Nice post, I tend to agree.

How can anyone not "love" Scoop, the person. "Hate him" refers to his play on the court at times, not Scoop himself. So, this is not a fair title. At least that's my opinion.
