Sunday Silence beat easy Goer by 2 1/2 lengths in the Derby and a nose in the Preakness, (one of the great races ever) but was no match for him in the Belmont. Sunday Silence came back to beat Easy Goer in the Breeder's Cup by a neck and was named Horse of the Year.
